Wang Canfa is a member of the National Committee of experts on ecological and environmental protection, legal adviser of the Ministry of ecological environment, legal adviser of the Ministry of agriculture and rural areas, and legal adviser of the State Oceanic Administration.

Professor and doctoral supervisor of China University of political science and law, director of the Legal Aid Center for pollution victims of China University of political science and law, and China's famous environmental lawyer. Deputy to the 13th and 14th Beijing Municipal People's Congress, vice chairman of the urban construction and Environmental Protection Committee of the Beijing Municipal People's Congress, vice chairman of the Chinese society of Environmental Sciences, vice president of the China Environmental and Resources Law Research Association, and expert enjoying special subsidies from the State Council. Participated in the drafting and discussion of most environmental laws and regulations in China in the past 25 years. He has written and cooperated with others to complete more than 50 works on environmental law and published more than 150 academic papers on environmental law, which has played an important role in promoting the construction of China's environmental court, the establishment of environmental public interest litigation system and the improvement of environmental legislation. In 1998, he founded the Legal Aid Center for pollution victims of China University of political science and law, led environmental public welfare lawyers to provide free legal advice and litigation aid to pollution victims, and trained judges, prosecutors, environmental protection officials, lawyers and members of environmental NGOs in environmental legal practice. In 16 years, he trained nearly 2000 people, which played an important role in promoting the construction of environmental rights protection capacity. He has been awarded the "Green China person of the year award", "Nikkei Asia Award", "environmental protection figure of 30 years of reform and opening up", "China justice Figure Award", "CCTV 12.4 Award" In 2007, it was named as one of the 45 "world environmental heroes" by time magazine. In 2014, he was awarded the Ramon magasse prize, known as the "Asian Nobel Prize".
