Intellectual Property Law Institute

 

The Intellectual Property Law Institute of the Civil, Commercial and Economic Law School of China University of Political Science and Law (hereinafter referred to as the Intellectual Property Law Institute) was formerly known as the Teaching and Research Section of Science and Technology Law in the Department of Economic Law. After the establishment of the Civil, Commercial and Economic Law School in 2002, the Institute was founded on the basis of the former Teaching and Research Section of Science and Technology Law.


The Institute of Intellectual Property Law is an important center for the teaching, scientific research and talents cultivation of intellectual property law. There are 15 full-time faculty members, including 6 professors, 8 associate professors, 1 lecturer, among whom 14 hold Ph.D. degrees. Many professors enjoy a high reputation in China. Professor Feng Xiaoqing, director of the Institute, is appointed Qian Duansheng Chair Professor (Class A) and serves as the Vice Chairman of the China Intellectual Property Law Society. Many faculty members have the experience of studying or visiting in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, South Korea and other countries. Several of them are proficient in English, Japanese, German and other foreign languages.


The Intellectual Property Law Institute provides doctoral and master's programs in intellectual property law, and postdoctoral research in intellectual property law. In terms of teaching, the Institute not only offers the compulsory course Intellectual Property Law for undergraduates, but also elective courses, such as Case Studies on Intellectual Property Law, Symposium on Intellectual Property Law, E-Commerce Law, etc. Moreover, the Institute provides the intellectual property law clinic for undergraduates. Besides, The Institute offers courses, such as General Introduction to Intellectual Property Law, for Ph.D. students, and courses, such as Principles of Civil Law and Intellectual Property System, General Introduction to Intellectual Property Law, Copyright Law, Industrial Property Law, Anti-fair Competition Law, Intellectual Property Management, International Protection of Intellectual Property, etc., for master students.


The Intellectual Property Law Institute attaches great importance to scientific research. The faculty members have published more than 200 academic papers in Social Sciences in China, Chinese Journal of Law, China Legal Science, Journal of the Copyright Society of the USA and other core domestic and foreign journals. Among them, there are more than 100 CSSCI papers. They have also published more than 20 monographs, such as Theory of Interest Balance in Intellectual Property Law, Philosophy of Intellectual Property Law, Enterprise Intellectual Property Strategy, Enterprise Technical Innovation and Intellectual Property Strategy, Enterprise Intellectual Property Management, Research on Copyright Transaction System, E-commerce Law, Research on the History of Patent Law in the United States, Intellectual Property Law, Intellectual Property Litigation Study, Theory and Practice of Intellectual Property Law, Research on the Intellectual Property System of Intangible Assets of Modern Enterprises, etc. The faculties have won a number of awards, such as the Second Prize of the National Law Textbook and Scientific Research Achievement Award, Second Prize of Qian Duansheng Award for Legal Research Achievements, Second Prize of Beijing Excellent Achievement Award in Philosophy and Social Science, Second Prize of Provincial and Ministerial Level Science and Technology Progress Award, etc. They have also presided over more than 10 major national projects, such as major projects, key projects and general projects of the National Social Science Fund, and key projects of the Ministry of Education.


The Intellectual Property Law Institute has established extensive cooperation and exchanges with foreign countries, including the United States, Japan, South Korea, Germany, as well as Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan of China, etc. Many well-known scholars or practitioners from home and abroad are invited to hold academic lectures and salons.
