Professor Yang Xiuqing, Deputy Dean of the Civil and Commercial Economic Law School (CCELS), and her delegation visited several well-known law schools in Canada and the United States from September 8th to September 13th, 2019. The delegation was accompanied by Professor Feng Xiaoqing, Director of the Institute of Intellectual Property Law, Professor Wu Rihuan of the Institute of Finance and Tax Law, Professor Wang Yong of the Institute of Commercial Law, and Associate Professor Sun Yang of the Institute of Intellectual Property Law.
The delegation visited the Faculty of Law, University of Montreal, Canada on September 9.Professor Ysolde Gendreau, Deputy Dean of the University of Montreal Law School, Professor Michel Morin, Dean of the innovative undergraduate program, professor Pierre Larouche, Professor Herve Prince, and Director of China Project, Professor Jiao Jie met the delegation. Deputy Dean Ysolde Gendreau warmly welcomed the delegation from Civil and Commercial Economics Law School, China University of Political Science and Law on behalf of University of Montreal Law School. She reviewed the history and results of cooperation between the University of Montreal School of Law and China University of Political Science and Law, and expected to carry out in-depth cooperation in various aspects. Deputy Dean Yang Xiuqing thanked the University of Montreal Law School for the warm reception, and introduced the development history oftheCivil and Commercial Economic Law School and the distribution of disciplines, faculty and students at the University of Montreal Law School, looking forward to in-depth cooperation in the future based on the solid cooperation foundation established by the University of Montreal and the University of Political Science. During the meeting, the two sides focused on issues such as teacher’s visiting abroad, joint doctoral training, and international curriculum cooperation, and reached a consensus. The delegation also visited the students of the LL.M. master’s scholarship program, studying at the University of Montreal Law School.

The delegation visited the Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, and talked with Professor Paul Rose, the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Professor Daniel Tokaji, Associate Dean for Faculty, Assistant Dean Dr. Laura Fernández-Álvarez, Professor Daniel CK Chow, Professor Dale Oesterle and Professor Guy Rub on September 11th. In the talks, Deputy Dean Yang Xiuqing thanked the thoughtful and detailed arrangements of OSU for the delegation’s visit, and introduced the basic situation of the CCELS, especially its characteristics and advantages in disciplines, faculty, and graduate training. The two parties conducted in-depth discussions on the co-organization of international academic seminars, cooperative research, teachers’ mutual visits, international curriculum projects, talent training, and had fruitful exchanges focusing on the cooperation between the two sides in commercial law, intellectual property law and other disciplines. They reached a consensus on specific work to follow up and also made arrangementsto do so.

The delegation visited the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign Law School on September 12. Professor Margareth Etienne, Deputy Dean of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign Law School, Christine Renshaw, Director of the Office of International Affairs, and Professor Kenworthey Bilz met the delegation. Deputy Dean Margareth Etienne extended a warm welcome to the delegation of Civil and Commercial Economic School, China University of Political Science and Law on behalf of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign Law School, and invited the delegation to visit the Law School. She introduced the long history and basic information of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign Law School. During the meeting, both parties focused on constructive discussions on the scientific research cooperation mode and implementation mechanisms of the two institutes in the future, and reached an agreement on the establishment of an academic research cooperation mechanism between the teachers of the two institutes as the starting point to promote intensive cooperation in graduate education, international curriculum, international academic conferences and had a detailed discussion on relevant cooperation. During the visit, the delegation also communicated with the Chinese students who are studying for a JSD PhD and the students of the LL.M. Master’s Scholarship Program at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Law School.
